rock a bye baby bye!

She's 16 months!  She wasn't supposed to grow past 9 months (momma's rule) and now she CANNOT reach 2 yrs.  The past few months have been crazy exciting in the sweet life of Violet and equally as terrifying.  She went from a 100% dependent nursing 17lb baby at 12+ months, to a disabled peanut in casts at 14 months, to this 21 lb little girl who thinks she can entirely feed herself, tell me when she needs a diaper change, ask to put shoes on, knowingly disobey and run from me, and recognizably sing Jesus loves me and Rock-a bye at 16 months.  SLOW. DOWN. !!!!!

I can't wait to find out her percentages.  She's 21+lbs, and short...I don't know how short, but I think she'll be quite a ways behind her brother at this age.  She is sleeping 11-12 hours at night, if we put her down early enough, but usually not past 7 or 7:30 am, and never past 8.  (I was thinking that I wanted to keep them in the same room when we move, but although I think they are going to hate the first few nights of sleeping in separate rooms, I think they will sleep in longer if they are separated.  Especially Violet - on both accounts!)  She was going to sleep before Benjamin, but then she would cry and ask for him...We've gone back and forth and last night she went to bed 3 hrs earlier, and tonight they went to bed at the same time.  I guess we're just keeping life exciting over here at the Lewicki's :) ha!  She's down to one nap, and would love to take it at 11:30, but we hold off for lunch at 12:15 and then nap at 1:15.  She gets a little jipped (sp)  because I value them both sleeping at the same time, but i've considered putting her down for an earlier nap, and then earlier bed time...Who knew getting babies to sleep was SO MUCH WORK!

Violet has been a stinker at meal times, because she wants to feed herself  EVERYTHING.  I love for her to learn independence, but she pulls quite the attitude, and the "if" "then" dessert bribe isn't working to get her to let me feed her certain dishes, so I think I'm just going to make sure there is more baby friendly options.  I'm sick of guessing, if she doesn't like something, if she is full, or just is a pistol!

She is better at obeying/sharing than she was a month ago, but as many hours as Benjamin spends trying to explain to her how it works, it just isn't sinking in! :)

She LOVES outside...Today Benjamin had to pick up his blocks before we could go outside, and I think she picked up 2/3 of them for him, because she was so excited to play!  It's tough because our yard is soo poor for playing and Benjamin can stay outside and draw with chalk on our porch, while I watch from the window, but Violet is locked inside with Momma at times, and that is a sad time for both of us!

She is telling me when she is wet or stinky.  Not every time but quite a bit.  I think she could be potty trained early if I wanted to put in the effort, but the thought of driving this summer and stopping frequently for a 3 yr olds potty breaks is daunting, but thinking of stopping for a 3 yr old AND a 18 month old is ridiculous...so we will wait.  Honestly, even if it did work, she would need so much help in the process that  continuing with our cloth/disposable combo sounds like a pretty great idea!  LAZY MOM!

Lastly, miss Violet has turned into SUCH a little girl.  She's has always just wanted whatever toy Benjamin has, but now, she gets elated at the sight or mention of her baby, spends large amounts of time singing rock-a-bye in her rocking chair(at least long for her!) and has recently kept her pig tails in for 4ish hours!!!!!  I could care less if she is a girly girl or tom boy, but its fun to see her have her own interests and personality and not just copy cat big brother :)

Here's some pictures for you!

Doing her "memory puzzle"

the typical turn of events...Violet wants Benjamin's puzzle, so I get Violet her own, and then Benjamin wants to help Violet with hers...ahhh!

This picture (and the following), are snap shots of our "day at the zoo" - living room style :)

The digger and skid loaders that are working on the intersection across from our house provide much entertainment!

:)

And her love for babies begins...:)

"babaa" "babaa"  - singular & monotone it means sheep,  singular with raised eyebrows and in fluctuation it means baby, and repetitively with a sing songy voice it means - rock-a-bye :)

cup cakes!

a motorcycle drove by and she ran to get Benjamin's  motorcycle. :)  Also, she's been doing this face a lot to be silly, and I don't get really get it...but its funny!

:)

Violets new sunglasses are greatly envied by her big brother

She has an obsession with cheese lately...eating it for a snack & saying it when she sees a camera.  here she is doing both :)

Who doesn't need some green eggs and ham  at least once in their life :)

He was pretty excited :)

She was really just excited because her brother was excited :)
