So...Somebody let him turn 5...

My sweet Benjamin Edward turned 5.  It is unbelievable that I should have a 5 year old!  He's quite the fantastic blend of  "all boy" with the most gentle of spirits.  I'm quite smitten with him :)

He loves anything with wheels, and although ships and airplanes take his breath away, he is most in love with trains!  He loves learning and is reading HOP books, and Sally Dick and Jane, and truly would be doing much more if his momma weren't side tracked by having too many pots in the fire.

He LOVES to ask Why, and makes it very tricky for me to decipher if his attitude is one of curiosity or disobedience.  He wants to know how things work, why we do what we do, what would happen if we didn't and a myriad of other questions.  It makes me so tired :)

He's still tall (94th%) and average weight (62nd%).  He passed his vision test, AND hearing test (which momma was very nervous about after our temporary hearing loss that followed both ear infections this winter!

We haven't done a ton of math in our "pre-school" prep, but he seems to get the work we do.  His more obvious love is Art.  He loves to create, to imagine, colors and shapes.  Its fun to watch his little mind work!

Here's just a couple of my recent Benjamin conversations that have made me eat humble pie:

B-" momma!  look at all these numbers I made[play do]"
ME - oh! I love them. are you going to make alphabet soup?
B - "Mom, then I would need letters..."

B - "momma? do you think that butterfly is poisonous?"
ME - I don't know of any poisonous butterflies buddy.
B - "mom! Dont you remember that beautiful bright caterpillar in our Dangerous Animals book?
ME - yup I do Benjamin!  He was pretty cool!
B - "So...if he was poisonous as a caterpillar wont he have poison as a butterfly?!"

B - "Look at that construction over there! I think they are making a railroad track!"
ME - I don't think so buddy.  They don't just make a brand new track in the middle of town.  The one a couple blocks over is working just fine I think.  They probably don't need a new one.
B - "Momma, haven't you ever heard of a switch track?!"

B- 3
M - 0
